Swami Vivekananda was born Narendranath Dutta, son of a well-known lawyer in Calcutta, Biswanath Dutta, and a very intelligent and pious lady, Bhuvaneswari Devi, in the year 1863.He attended the Parliament of Religions in Chicago to represent Hinduism. Swamiji made a tremendous impression, first in the USA and then also in England. The press paid him the highest tributes as an exponent of India's age-old values; overnight he became a great national hero in India. It was Swamiji's hope that India would create a new social order and a new civilization by combining her best spiritual traditions with the latest advancements in science and technology.


Ramakrishna Paramhansa was born as Gadadhar Chattopadhyay on February 18, 1836 in Kamarpukur, in Hooghly district of West Bengal. Born into a poor family who lived a hand to mouth existence, Ramakrishna was neither interested in going to school nor in business. He was a non-conformist and questioned existing beliefs and conventions

Ram Mohan Roy, was the founder of the Brahmo Samaj, one of the first Indian socio-religious reform movements. His remarkable influence was apparent in the fields of politics, public administration and education as well as religion. He is most known for his efforts to abolish the practice of sati, a Hindu funeral practice in which the widow sacrifices herself on her husband’s funeral pyre. It was he who first introduced the word "Hinduism" (or "Hindooism") into the English language in 1816.


Periyar was born as Erode Venkata Naicker Ramaswamy in Erode in Tamil Nadu. Hence he is called E. V. Ramaswami Naicker. "Periyar" means 'respected one' or an 'elder' in Tamil. EVR was an atheist

Jyotirao Govindrao Phule, April 11, 1827November 28, 1890), also known as Mahatma Jyotiba Phule was an activist, thinker, social reformer and revolutionary from Maharashtra in the nineteenth century. His remarkable influence was apparent in fields like education, agriculture, caste system, women and widow upliftment and removal of untouchability. He is most known in society for his efforts to educate women and the lower castes. He, after educating his wife, opened the first school for girls in India in August 1848.


Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu affectionately called, Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Macedonia, on August 26, 1910.

Kamaraj Kumarasami, better known as K. Kamaraj was an Indian politician from Tamil Nadu, regarded as a kingmaker in Indian politics, and known for his honesty, integrity,love and simplicity.

Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar(Gujarat), India. He is the most respected freedom fighter,spiritual & political leader of India. He freed the Indian people from British Rule through non-violence. He is regarded as the father of the Indian Nation.

Indira Priyadarshini(Indira Gandhi) was born November 19, 1917, in Allahabad, India, to Jawaharlal and Kamala Nehru, was the Prime for three consecutive terms from 1966 to 1977 and for a fourth term from 1980 until her assassination in 1984. She was India's first and to date only female prime minister.
